1) Install Titanium backup. This will allow you to back up your apps.

2) Boot into recovery. With the phone powered off, hold down the down volum key while pressing the power button. Hold this for a few seconds and the phone should boot into recovery. In here you can backup (Also call Nandroid) your existing ROM.

3) We would need to know what phone you have to answer.

4) We would need to know what phone you have to answer.

Each one of the subsections here have a "all things rooted" section. You'll find ROMs for your phone there.

2..Ok so no need of any third party applications to backup existing ROM we can do it from our device only, iam i correct. Then i checked by going into recovery mode but i cannot view any backup things ther. Plz frnd can u guide me [mean while iam googling]..

2. You need to flash a kernel that comes with CWM (Clock-work recovery). There you will be able to flash ROMs, other kernels, mods, etc. CWM will also allow you to back-up and restore your current set-up (ROM, kernel, settings, everything).

I have moved this to the Galaxy Y all things root forum. You should get some device specific advice there.
