Help What to do first....DX to Razr Maxx

My Razr Maxx will be arriving today and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to do first. Should I let it fully charge or can I plug and play? Should I check for updates or root?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I charged mine before I used it...but as I understand it there is no need to run the battery completely dead after the first charge as many believe.

I agree turn the phone on and play around with it don't worry about battery status it will last you longer than any other android device you have previous had in the past.

I charge it to full and go through each and every setting of the phone. Then I Root. Then I get all the apps I want on my phone. Then I set up my home screens. Then I get a launcher when I get bored of the stock launcher. (ADWLauncher EX) Then I play with Live Wallpapers. Then I go back to stock launcher after getting tired of ADW lol. I don't flash rom's or anything as I like the stock rom. Just wish it was more customizable. I hate that stock icons are only 4x4. I like 5x5. I also like the option to change the icons for each app.

You certainly want to do that at some point when you get the phone, since it will calibrate the battery, there is no need to do it immediately. Modern batteries aren't like the old nickel-cadium batteries that were in cellphones in the 90's. You don't need to worry about conditioning the battery at all, but you're battery gauge will be off if you don't calibrate it. That's why you want to charge it completely, let it die and then charge it again. There's no harm in putting that off though, you will just have an poorly calibrated battery meter until you do that.
