Root What to do with the rooted phone but formatted sd card

I have recently purchased a used htc explorer. The seller formatted the memory card just before handing over it to me. I checked to have found it to be already rooted. It also has A2SDGUI and CWM Manager but they are doing nothing whatsoever. I am running short of phone memory but cant move apps to sd. What to do from here on.
