Well so many people seem to still be flashing roms and bricking their phones. I explained when I wrote the guide you just mentioned that you cannot flash roms so I thought I'd reiterate it on a new thread..

Yeah.. gotta read things over a few times before even attempting.. so, with that recovery on, theoretically going through the steps to unlock (flashing the kdz offline) if you run into problems like i've seen alot run into, if you can't flash back the v10d kdz, can you wipe data/restore as normal and be good to go? I know flashing the kdz redoes recovery, just not sure about the 2nd init part..

I haven't flashed a kdz on this lg model yet, but on my previous lg phones you had to reinstall anything in the system you modified including second init.

Im on a non unlockable bootloader on my lg spirit and I can back up restore edit the kernel and cm10 if I wanted to

That's cool, but considering this is for a different phone on a whole different recovery and a whole different kind of system things are different... Not to mention that this phone has an unlockable bootloader. I recently came from the motion community which is why the spirit got loki so I'm very familiar with your device. Check the credentials!! Lol

man i feel ya.. ya seem to know whats goin on.. i came from an lg esteem.. it was click and be done with it lol.. the bootloader seems to be one tricky mf.. either it unlocks or doesnt for some people. bobzhome said over in the cm11 topic that he used v10b to unlock.. so i'll try that sometime soon.. aint got the time or the patience to brick this thing again lol.. if it works.. i will make time to write a guide.. so far its what doesn't work lol..

and just to keep things on topic.. don't click reboot recovery on this one.. apparently (i haven't been lucky enough to experience this myself lol) it deletes EVERYTHING.. external sd included.. all your stuff is gone..

Im willing to try this method to..except how would one modify the .bin so that your phone is rooted at boot?

Yeah on a 2nd init recovery, reboot to recovery sends you to the factory's factory reset and with the way this recovery is set up it repartitions everything.

from my understanding you don't need to be rooted to unlock.. i looked over on xda for the link but didn't run across it.. runnin short on time at the moment.. basically you hex edit it.. thats all irrelevant though.. i haven't tested this file but i trust it.. it runs cydia impactor(root) cwm /applies the fix for the crazy screen through adb.. get it into debugging mode you're good to go.. this thing really isn't brickable.. you HAVE to have the drivers installed before even attempting any of this.. omap included.. i'm new to fastboot.. i've had this thing a little over a week.. bricked it a good 3 times.. back to good as new.. one last tip if you flash/offline kdz method, turn on show touches.. (setting/dev options) thats a life saver for the crazy screen.. and yes swain.. if i figure this out ya'll will be the first to know..

I have a feeling this is exactly what bobz did to unlock. https://plus.google.com/app/basic/stream/z13pxhrrjv3sjtoe423wjzkagyveej4wa04

Except he used msp769 v10b which i dont know where to get from. And he hex edited the 11.bin file. So that it would be rooted on start up. Im willing to try this as well..cus from what i understand. The bootloader was unlockable when JB was first presented to the l9. Its worth a try. Just need to get my hands on the v10b kdz for the msp769

Well i got as far as trying to hex edit the 11.bin file. But i cant seem to find "# hdcp.sh" in it. So im stuck there for now...unless someone can help me out real quick? :p

Here is the modded .bin.. Actually removed it cause I can't remember if its for v10d or b..
