while updating my desire hd was stuck on the splash screen(htc logo) i took it to HTC and they said after trying to restore it they have failed and now they have recommended a force restoration on the eMMC through J-Tag they said your phone will be restored so can anyone here tell me what is this ''J-tag''

Hey Mark - a jtag is a piece of electronics that can be used to unbrick a phone... the youtube clip below shows what is done.

I am a little surprised that HTC have said to do this... you would have thought that they would be the ideal people to do this sort of thing! I think that this piece of kit is used by phone repair shops (but am not sure, sorry).
