Root Whats a radio?

I have flashed my Desire with many thanks to Unrevoked, but on these forums I've been reading about radio, What exactly is all the heat about?

Some custom roms include radio some don't. It's the software needed to run the radio, I.e. the thing that gives you a signal to receive phone calls

BAsically it's your phones receiver. Just like your car radio receives the radio stations being being broadcast over the air, the phones radio receives the cell signals so you can make calls.

Really shouldn't be anything you should have to mess with, unless certain roms need to be updated.

On my phone I can get to it by dialing *#*#4636#*#* (<-- works for Verizon, not sure about others)
Then click on phone information
Scroll down. The first drop down menu is the one you would mess is, if you were going to change anything.
But make sure you know what you're doing before you change anything
