Help Whats app

I have just updated my software to android 2.3.3. Before that I had 2.1 and since updating I can't seem to get the Whats App application running on this new software. It is downloading, but not initializing. Can someone assist, please?

Can you surf the web and can you download any other apps?

If you can surf and install other apps, then the problem is the link to whatever Whats App is.
