Our house recipe for slow cooked chuck roast is to get enough olive oil to cover the bottom of the cooker; and pour enough Cavender's seasoning to cover the oil. Then put the roast in and coat it - top, bottom and sides - with the mixture. Add pieces of potato around the perimeter of the cooker, on top of the roast; then add carrot slices (or baby carrots) to completely obscure the roast from view. Grind a little salt and pepper over that, cover and cook on low for about 8 hours. Falls apart, melts in your mouth, and the flavor will make angels sing.I liken a slow cooked chuck with DP to a smoked chuck. It's the real deal.
