What's for dinner ?

Tonight I continue my fish sandwich round robin. So far, I've tried Burger King, Arby's, Long John Silvers, and McDonalds. They all serve a breaded Pollock sandwich though Long John's uses Flounder for their fish and chips. Tonight I'm trying Freddy's fish sandwich. Like most establishments, it is a limited time offering. Their fish sandwich is breaded Flounder. I have hopes it will rise to the top of my like list. Next I intend to try two different fish sandwiches from a new eatery in town. Just recently opened, a Culver's is a new to me establishment. They have a fish sandwich of breaded Cod that is served year round. Cod is my breaded fish fillet of choice that was once served by both McDonalds and Long John's. Interestingly, Culver's offers a limited time fish sandwich using Northwoods Walleye. Their Walleye is from fresh water Canadian lakes. This might be something over the top delicious!

This was yesterday's dinner after I got my sergery done:

I was very disappointed with my meal from Freddy's. Considering years ago I did an extensive remodel and addition to a home owned by a man who had six or seven Freddy's and was in the process of opening more. He said the reason for the franchise's rapid growth was due to the high standard of quality the stores had to maintain to keep their franchise license. My meal tonight was a total mess. I specifically ordered the fish sandwich without pickles. Dill is about the last taste I want on my fish. My ticket clearly says no pickle. It came with two huge slices of dill that ruined my sandwich that looked like someone had stepped on it. It might have been a good fish sandwich but I'll never know. I'll be moving on from Freddy's.

Tonight I had a fish sandwich from Culver's. It really was a breaded Cod filet and was very tasty. However, it suffered the same problem all of the burger servers have... it was completely doused with fish hiding flavors. I guess that many customers order fish but don't want it to taste like fish. I like fish and once I scraped off most of the condiments the fish was excellent. I told the lady at the pay window this was my first visit to Culver's and was there because of the fish. She was very friendly and said if you like fish, you must try the Walleye. She went on to say that it is a very popular menu item that customers just rave about. I told her it was next on my list to try.

I made a chicken chilli with cheese ontop of it, the no skin chicken kind was in a bowl, with two tablespoons of chilli inside that dish,
zapped it in the microwave and the left over chilli my mother's boyfriend seem to heat it up.

I know these won't compare to the outstanding offerings from local theaters 60 years ago but they caught my eye and tonight I'll give them a try. Corn dogs... instead of straight from the deep fryer they will be straight from my oven. I'll cook them early just in case I need to fix something different. :)

The corn dogs weren't bad. Not as good as I hoped they might be but not bad for the frozen food section. I will bake them a couple of minutes longer than the recommended eighteen minutes next time. I want the crust to be a bit crispy and the hot dog hot which I had neither adhering to the instructions. They tasted sweet but the nutrition facts on the back has them sinfully high in sodium. :(

My wife would always get corn dogs, from Sonic, every time they'd be on sale for 2 for a buck.
Last night was Chinese takeout.

Probably be leftover Chinese takeout for tonight.
There is a Sonic in town. I haven't eaten there since my kids were living here. It was part of the grab a meal rotation back in the day. I will admit to never trying their corn dogs. I thought their burgers were decent, onion rings were good, and a foot long chili cheese coney when the mood struck. It wasn't as cheap as some of the other burger places but it was a bit better. IMO
