What's going on with my LG G3 screen??

sydbloke

Lurker
On some apps I'm getting this weird screen 'lockup', sometimes it lasts a second or two, other times I have to touch the screen in some way before the screen returns to normal. I've attached a couple of screen grabs, it looks like it takes a section of the display and repeats it.

I've only seen it on 2 or 3 particular apps, but I'm not sure if it's an app problem or an OS issue.

I know if I contact LG they'll just say do a factory reset and see if it comes back, etc, etc. I'd rather avoid that if possible, so I thought I'd see if any other G3 owners have experienced this. Phone info:

Model LG-D855
Android 5.0
Kernel version 3.4.0

Thanks! :)

That kind of corruption could be software related, but it could also be a sign of failing hardware. Especially if you're on stock firmware, which ought to be relatively stable. You may want to pre-empt the problem and get it checked out by LG, before your warranty ends.

Which apps are triggering it?

Thanks Xryo,

I know that LG are just gonna suggest factory reset as first fix, really don't want to have to go through all that initial setup again, even with LG Backup there's still some stuff you have to do manually, then all the apps have to be downloaded. But guess contacting them is the best thing to do.

Apps that I've noticed it on include; myfitnesspal, scruff, tweetcaster.

The corruption is slightly different on each app, it seems to be affected by the apps layout and seems to happen mainly when using the OS back button or the apps back button.
