What's next for Samsung?

So yeah, what's next for Samsung. I'm talking about the S4 of course. By the looks of it, the S4 isn't everything it was hyped up to be. It seems that this year the smartphone giants might have just been beaten. Why I hear you ask? Well it's because of their design I'd say. With HTC pulling the ever so "smart move" (pun intended) making their flagship out of a premium metal, it seems that Samsung really have lost the game this time round.

What's next for them though? Will they learn from their mistakes in the next galaxy? Will the S5 be made out of metal or will Samsung still stick with their "high end polycarbonate" phone (plastic Samsung, just call it plastic)? What do you think?

Well for starters I'd take the S4 over the One any day of the week. I don't care much for the plastic or metal cover. I care more for the replaceable battery and the expandable storage. The phone being plastic or metal doesn't matter to me because whatever phone I get, I'll be putting in a protective case, so the material isn't important to me.

Will they learn from their mistakes in the next galaxy?

What "mistakes"? The S4 is predicted to surpass 10million units sold this coming week, less than a month after release. It took the S3 fifty days to reach the same milestone, and that wasn't exactly hailed as a failure.

As for the "premium metal".... my experience is that Joe Public simply doesn't care. Many remark on the camera, the stereo speakers, the quality of the display, or the revamped Sense, but nobody is rushing to buy it simply because it's metal.

I'm not saying that they've made tons of mistakes, just the ones that could have took customers from HTC, hence the metal comment. I think when you say people aren't rushing to it because it's metal you don't get my point. The metal gives the phone a premium feel, something a lot of users may want but samsung didn't give. Almost every review I've read says the same, "Samsung has opted for the cheap plastic" whereas "HTC has opted for a premium finish". Sure this doesn't say people don't like plastic but I still think that samsung will recognise this as a mistake or a flaw, even if its bot a biggy to others.

By the way I'm getting the S4 and this is one of the things I'm disappointed in. Personal opinion really

It seems like you base the success, or potential success of a phone based on its looks, which would leave me to be severely confused at the logic process you made to arrive st this conclusion based on the success that the Galaxy S3 has, which has the polycarbonate body that you obviously dislike.

Your logic process also ignores all of the success of the Galaxy S4 so far and it's sales records so it would be very interesting to hear your logic process.

It reminds me of when my ex girlfriends little brother said the team I liked in football were massive failures and were doomed, even though they had won the league that year. I had previously whooped him on a football video game days before his comment.

Well everyone's entitled to their opinion and their own logic, and facts don't necessarily have to be looked at to form an opinion, not an educated opinion anyway.

My point is that potential buyers simply don't tell me that is what's important to them. Nobody has ever stated "because it's metal" when asked what attracted them to the One.

The design of the phone and how it feels in hand is far more important than the material used and the Galaxy S4 wins in the area.

Phones don't get extra build quality points just because there made of metal, there's allot more to build quality and design than what material it's made of.

It's a shame you guys still can't get over this, there are so many great things about the Galaxy S4 and you focus and something like this.

It's Samsung's fastest ever selling phone, HTC can only dream of the sales the Galaxy S4 is getting so how did you come to that conclusion? makes no sense at all.
