What's the difference between these two phones?

Links are broken. Without being able to read them, I suggest checking the 3G frequencies, I suspect the Expansys US store is selling the European model. They do this all the time, usually with some weasel words about it being a "global GSM device".

Samsung Galaxy S II Android Smartphone (Unlocked, 16GB) #SGH-I910016GB - Expansys USA

2G: 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz (Quadband)
3G: 900/2100 (Dual-band)

and

Europe:

Samsung GALAXY S II (16GB) Deals, #GT-I9100LKAXEU - Expansys.com UK

2G: 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz (Quadband)
3G: 850/900/1900/2100 (Dual-band)

Shouldn't they be the same phone? There is no US version as of yet.

at&t uses 850 and 1900 bands for their 3G.

t-mobile uses mainly 1700 and some 2100 for their 3G.

The rest of the world mostly (but not entirely, especially in north and south Americas) use the 2100 MHz band for 3G UMTS services.

Thank you for your help! So they would be the same phone except for the bands they support. I think I'm going to place my order for the European version.

I think you should be OK since the phone does support the 2100 band, though I don't know how widely is the 2100 band being supported by t-mobile.

However, you'll be on at&t anyway due to the merger (how soon, who knows). I believe the merger will happen since at&t has $3 billions riding on it (if the Feds don't approve the merger, at&t will have to pay $3 billions to t-mobile!)

I'd advise against it without 1700 support. Your call though.

The European version doesn't support the 1700 band either. I'll at least get 3G on the 2100 band. I am also not going to pay $40 a month for a data plan. I can save myself $30 a month and still enjoy 3G.

Hey guys, first-time poster here.

T-Mobile isn't getting the SGS-II, they're getting the Hercules:

Dual Core 1.2GHz APQ8060
1GB RAM
480x800 SuperAMOLED 4.5" Display
HSPA/HSPA+
8MP HD Camera w/front-facing VGA
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900
UMTS: 850, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100
16GB Internal Storage, up-to 32GB SDHC card
Wi-Fi
BlueTooth
NFT
GPS

If you're looking for a new phone from Samsung, this one looks to be a LOT better than the US version of the Galaxy S II (which SUCKS compared to the European version).

Just realized I necroposted this.... Still good advice, though. The Hercules looks to be a better phone all around than the US SGS-II
