Help What's the reason ICS Launchers?

If after updaing to Android 4.0.4 why does the look of my Samsung Galaxy S2 look remarkably like Gingerbread 2.3.4?

I thought that if you updated to ICS then the look of your phone was that of ICS which is what the launchers looked like.

When I updated my Galaxy Tab 10.1 to ICS the whole look of the Tab's screens changed see attached image.

Thanks

That's because the S2 is overlaid with TouchWiz. Actual Android GB actually (probably) does not look like the GB you are used to. If you want actual GB and ICS experience, you have to use the nexus phones. The closest you are going to get is using the launchers that simulate actual ICS interface like APEX.

Other than that, don't worry too much. You are still on ICS.

So if I understand you correctly updating the S2 to ICS 4.0.4 doesn't install the ICS "experience" so if you want it you have to install an artificial "aid" to get it :(

From Wiki Here it says that "Google's Gabe Cohen stated that Android 4.0 was "theoretically compatible" with any Android 2.3.x device in production at that time"

But it seems not due to having to use ICS launchers.

You misunderstand. Every phone developer (except google - nexus) developed their own interface. If you had bought HTC, you would be using Sense launcher. Its not the phone, its just that the manufacturer's want to put their own take into the Android experience.

You are still on ICS for all intent and purposes. But you will need alternative launchers for a closer mimic of stock ICS interface. I actually don't see it as that much of a problem. Under GB, I was using Go Launcher. Under ICS, I am also using Go Launcher.

Maybe what you should at least explain what you are looking for in ICS and we can point you in the right direction to get that.

Cheers
