Today is starting out cooler than yesterday. The temp fell to 39° over night and is currently 49°. There is very little wind but it is from the North. The predicted high is the mid sixties. The ten day forecast has Thursday's high in the nineties then cooling off and raining through Easter weekend with additional rain most of next week. The rain would be welcomed but I'll believe it when I see it.
It is supposed to get into the high seventies today and is currently sixty one degrees. The wind is out of the South and is already in the double digits with it forecasted to increase as the day progresses. ...it is Kansas after all.
It warmed up though the week but the wind also ramped up. Rain is forecasted through the weekend and off and on next week. Rain is a double edged sword for me. The rain is desperately needed in my area so the grass will grow. I can't mow when it's raining. We are into our second year of yard watering schedules that leaves all but the irrigated lawns distressed. It is cooler today with the wind from the North. Currently 53° with low seventies predicted for the day.
The temperature has been all but constant all day. It's been cloudy and has rained some starting late last night and all day today. It has never rained hard but it has never not been sprinkling. Currently it is 45° and .36" of rain has fallen. It is certainly not enough rain to brag about but it will help the grass and has ruined most outdoor activities.
I had to go out and clean my rain gauge. It was stopped up with maple seeds and not accurately registering rain fall. I'm about a half inch behind area stations but show .36" so far today and .76" since it started raining. It's a good rain that's falling. It is just a steady light to moderate rainfall that the parched ground is absorbing vs it running off with a big downpour. Currently it is fifty degrees and raining.
The rains have moved out and it's a clear but cool day. It dropped into the high thirties over night and is currently 54° with a low seventies high forecasted. There is very little wind blowing so everything remains wet from the rains. I logged 1.11" total rain fall over the weekend but my rain gauge was stopped up. It looks like I failed to read over a half inch. We needed the rain and there is more predicted for the end of the week.
Seventy one degrees was the forecasted high today but it reached eighty two degrees. It was a beautiful day with low winds and plenty sunshine. There is a chance of rain over night and through tomorrow and the rest of the week and into next week. We need the rain but we don't really need it all to come in the next seven days.
