What's up with Swiftkey?

This thread...LOOOLLLLL *smh*
ALL you have to do if you LIKE Swiftkey Keyboard itself but don't like the swipe/gestures is DISABLE the swipe/gestures features that you do NOT like.:paperbagdroid: *face palm*

You can't disable both. You are either using Flow or you have Gestures activated. I get not liking Flow but I don't care about Gestures since most of the time they are easy not to activate. He doesn't want either though, which there isn't an option for.

I kind of like Gesture ... it is an easy way to delete a word ... it is an easy way to hide the keyboard. For me it is not "in the way".

I don't use gestures. I hate the one that turns on the flashlight. I can't find the damn flashlight to disable it. It should be off, says off on the pulldown, I'll find it on after pulling phone out of holster.

If you like gestures, use them. I like the spell check, but I will also follow what EarlyMon recommended. Hacker's Keyboard if I get that disgusted. Smart, Super and Fleksy are on trial. I bought the first two years ago, so they are pro versions. I like the large keys on Fleksy. Hacker's is straightforward. All keys just like a full keyboard.

I did try Swype once and made a thorough mess.

You can't disable both, you have to chose one or the other. *face palm*

Heard from Ryan at Swiftkey. Very prompt and professional. Upshot, no you can't disable.
Then another message stating same but would put add this feature in as a request.
If you don't like it, or some of it gives you fits. try asking.

I said, yes, please.

I'd bought Swiftkey years ago. I also bought Smart Keyboard and Super Keyboard Pro. I knew MS bought Swiftkey a bit ago. I just forgot. Hacker's keyboard is free with no ads. Now trialling Fleksy. If I like, I will buy that, too.

I'm complaining about bought mdse since I bought them all. Not free favors.

I try to be fair. Swiftkey did answer promptly, and did make the offer. That should show what kind of company they are, even if I disagree with product.

The last post was for anyone else who would like to turn the feature off. You can ask for a feature.

Swiftkey is also now free with no ads. That happened over a year ago.

I also installed the Swiftkey beta. The change you requested is not in the beta either.

The change mentioned was in a note sent to my Yahoo Mail account by Ryan.

Ryan included that it (turning off gestures) could possibly be put in as a feature, but people need to request the feature. Isn't there a request query in the app somewhere or on their page at Play or the web?

Here's the body of the note:

Hi there,

You can't turn off gestures 100%. It's swipe to delete or Flow.

I can add this as a feature request for you if you'd like.

Best,

I don't use either, but don't find that I accidentally activate gestures so select that in order to disable swiping (ironically I never remember the "swipe down to hide keyboard" gesture exists, I just hit the back button to do that). So I'm happy to support a feature request.

The problem with these feature request systems is that most people never find that the request exists, which means that most requests get very few votes. I've met some companies who use them precisely to avoid having to spend time and money on feature requests (unless you can coordinate a large number of votes they use this as a reason to dismiss the request), though I feel SwiftKey are generally better than that.
