What's up with those black pixels on white background kind of avatars?

Aloha peepz!

Since I've seen multiple people here with avatars that consist of a white picture with some hard to get black pixel patterns on them...I was wondering how I could decode them somehow.

Let me "decode" (sorry for the bad joke..) your question into a possible FAQ question...

What's those funny looking broken TV-like avatars people have? I want one of those!
Answer: Those are 2D Barcodes.There are numerous websites that you can use to create one for yourself. Just search up "2D Barcodes" on the internet.

What do they mean? How can I decode them?
Answer: If you own a G1, it can easily be done using the "Barcode Scanner" application.
If you don't have a G1..then that's ok...there's an application you can download and use on your camera phone to decode the 2D barcode. Try this one.
