Help What's your favorite weather widget/app?

Sorry, had to go there...

I've had nothing but memory suckers and poor performance from all of them I've tried. Keeps firing the GPS, killing the battery quickly. Location is moderately accurate at best in Weatherbug. Most of the decent ones that I've seen require a root and flash... Seems like when I do that it creates too many other issues. Can't wait for 2.1 to come down the pipe.

Favorite widget= Beautiful Home by beautiful widgets (clock + weather + temp + date + 1-click 3 day forecast + 1-click calendar access + 1-click alarm clock access + multiple skins) plus it has a few other widgets that come in the package.:D

edit: just realized that I had misread the title.

Yea....I think I'm getting caught up in the noob phase of "what is the coolest?" You've brought up a VERY good point of the battery/memory suckers.....I think I too will just wait and see what 2.1 brings.....Thank you.

beautiful is great i like the animated weather and iv had it since day 1 and have no battery problems with or without it.

Is this in the "Beautiful Widget" program or is this different? I think I saw another one called GDE that was a home screen replacement that worked really well?

I use WeatherBug and turn the GPS feature off. No real battery drain as far as I have noticed. I like WeatherBug because I can have the temperature displayed in the notification bar, leaving the main screen free from obtrusive widgets. I can look outside to see the current conditions, but I have yet to figure out how to tell the temperature merely by looking out the window. ;)

I use WeatherBug Elite. "Follow me" is enabled but I only have "use network" enabled and not GPS. Seems to be pretty accurate at following my location, and has not noticeably impacted my battery life. Spare Parts shows only minimal partial wake usage by WeatherBug.

I've tried a number of weather apps, WeatherBug is the one I like the best so far. Keep in mind though, that when I use a weather app it's not so much to tell me what the weather is like at that moment but what the forecast is - so widgets that tell me the current temp and weather are mostly useless to me.

The Weather Channel app/widget is about the most useless one I've used. I hate it.

Agreed. I hate it as well. I am glad I rooted my phone so I could remove it.

Thanks for the tip about using follow me with the network only. I might give that a shot.

Since the update to cl14 and the resulting reconfiguration of my phone, my Weather Channel widget shows the temp for my "home" in the notification bar. I got used to it and sorta like the radars available with it.

I use and like WeatherBug Elite. I like the small temperature notification, that way I don't have a widget taking up space. Easy to pull down and get more info if needed.

I also like the ability to add multiple locations. That way I can dream of being on Maui or surfing on the Central CA coast. :D

Is WeatherBug Elite worth the $1.99 price?? I'm thinking of getting it but not sure..

Beautiful Widgets. The only other one I've tried, Weather Channel, is crapware that should be removed at the earliest opportunity.

I found an apk online today for beautiful widgets and downloaded it. Its my new fav for all the reasons you listed here!

the Weather Channel app that comes with the phone works pretty nicely. No flair, but it tells you the weather, gives hourly forecasts, 36 hour forecast, and 10-day. Plus it has animated radar and you can store multiple locations to look up quickly and have it track your 'home' location's temp on the notification bar for a quick forecast if you dont have the widget on your main home screen.

I use two different widgets and they seem to work great. I use the Weather Channel (small) Follow Me is off for my hometown. I also put another Weather Channel Widget with the city of my other hometown (small) on my homescreen.

For the Clock I use Retro Clock widget and really like it for the look and feel.

So the top part of my homescreen is WC Retro Clock Weather Channel occupies only four spaces...

and they will work on 2.1
