When 2.1 arrives install Official or Custom ROM ?

last info i saw which came from HTC said 16th of April so 2 more days.
this update will be if you phone is not locked to a network.

if it is then you will have to wait for the network to release there own version of the ROM so few more weeks i guess.
 
By what i read on xda-developers forum putting the ufficial update will cause problems with future custom roms! The bootloader or something related is changing!

The better choice could be wait until the developers release an official version to be installed with recovery. It should be a quick thing, it's just about changing "the shape" :)
 
They may close security holes in the exisiting ROM which allow custom roms to be installed, as I understand it, Im not a rooting expert by any stretch of the imagination.
 
Yeah, you may lose the ability to root if you install the official 2.1 update. Possibly not, and possibly only temporarily until a new workaround is found. But, if youre planning to root anyway, you might want to hold off on the 2.1 update until someone confirms you can still root afterwards.

Personally i'm gonna wait for a modaco rom based on the official 2.1 release.
 
It was painful enough dealing with the patched T-Mobile firmware for 1.5. Who knows how things have changed for 2.1

I already have root so i'll just wait till a Custom Rom comes out. I don't want to lose the ability to root if I install the official ROM.

Let's hope the 16th is the day....
 
I'll be waiting for Paul to release the MoDaCo version. I'd rather have a ROM that is based on the official release and had Paul's magic worked on it.
