Help When audio jack is plugged in and transmitting audio = no functionality of mic! Anyone else?

Greetings fellow Warpers,

First off, great effing phone for 200 bucks. Have has the phone for 3 weeks now. No problems until today...

While driving I had my Warp plugged in via audio jack to my cars receiver (as I always have it) get a phone call answer it and let the call play over my cars speakers while i speak towards my phone which is mounted on my dash. I have been doing this with great success over the last few years starting with the original Moto Droid, aka the brick. On this occasion, the mic on the Warp would not work. The callers couldnt hear a word i said until i either, put them on speakerphone, or unplugged audio jack and spoke unlawfully Warp to ear. Hopefully this was just an OS problem maybe caused by a confusion between music being played and a call coming in like I had encountered in the Moto Droid, but I dont know. Hopefully, its not a hardware issue as i like having calls play over my cars speakers.

Thanks for listening,
P.Nerd

This is the way it is supposed to work. The mic is wired through the earphone jack so that you can use a "wired" headset for phone calls.

Works for me. What I'd do is review any software you recently installed as that may be the problem. Or it might be that your jack is not connecting properly to the phone which might mess up mic operability

No wired mic of headset can work well. that say we can confirm the OS or SW process and HW all no problem. Maybe you should try another audio cable or connect method. I think your jack-plug of the audio cable isn't compatible with Warp's socket.:)

Hero Lau:

Thank you. Audio cable is not the issue, tried a different one. I believe what is happening is that the once the audio jack is engaged the warp sends the mic with the audio output into the audio cable then presumably the receiver since my cable lacks volume controls or a mic. The moto droid does not do this..
Please test this for me: plug your warps audio jack into any speaker system and play audio, now have some one call your warp, answer the call. you will be able to hear the caller over the speaker, however the caller will not be able to hear you... :( at least for me.

I tested as u said on my home sound box and on my car. no problem found. can hear each other on the call. I still think your cable isnt a compatible one.

HeroLau,

Cable is compatible. WHY? Because alternate Droid produces mic functionality with existing cable when receiving call during music playback. Period. Also I kindly asked to test when receiving calls, not placing them. The mic WORKS when I make calls out when the music is on, but WILL NOT work when receiving a call when audio is transmitting sound to external speakers.

This said, I believe it to be a software problem, which can be corrected. Either that, or I have a defective phone. So please HeroLau, refrain from replying with tests you kindly performed, and self-passed, regarding a problem I DO NOT have. Thank you

I did again as following:
1, plug the cable as pics into Warp and Car speaker system
2, playing music on Warp, music come out from Car speaker system.
3,made call to Warp, music will pause and ring come out from Car speaker.
4,receive the call on Warp, talk through Warp's mic.
5, other people can hear me well, end the call the music will continue.

6,After that made a call from Warp, talk and hear work well.

How to attach pics in this forum? then I can show you my cable and plug.

P. Nerd,

I am the guy in the second post above that said "This is the way it is supposed to work."

I actually based that statement on the way my Samsung Intercept works...

Here is what I did with the Warp: Made a phone call and then plugged in a set of ear buds.

I could here the other call through the ear buds and he could here me through the Warp mic. So I was wrong...

Now to your problem. Is your mic totally dead or intermittently dead? Can you try the same experiment that I did?
