when did Swype get integrated?

Yesterday I got a first look at a friend's HTC Droid Incredible. I was shocked to find out it has no Swype, as I have a HTC G2 which very definitely is Swyped. I thought Swype was stock Android. Well, maybe it's not, as maybe it wasn't part of my G1, don't remember. Or maybe also it has nothing to do with version of Android, maybe it's a hardware thing, which would be kinda odd since they're both HTC phones. I guess ultimately I'm just trying to see if there's just some setting she needs to turn on to get the Swype hotness... anyone know what's up?

HTC and Samsung licensed Swype for inclusion on specific handsets. Swipe is easily added to a phone that did not come with it by signing up for their beta program.

Of all the different input keyboards that I have used, I like Swype the most. I also like Swiftkey because of its predictive abilities.

Very impressed with the latest version of Swiftkey which I use, could not get on with Swype
