Root when hdmi hacks?

Man I wonder if this stuff Is possible. I want hdmi in hack and perhaps a hack to see everything thru the hdmi not just YouTube....

My Samsung TV doesn't even recognize the signal - something like "Mode Not Compatible."

I can't even get YouTube to work via HDMI. I have a type D HDMI cable, and when I plug into any of my TV's (I have an RCA and an LG), the phone instantly powers down and reboots. I called Sprint, and the tech said he hadn't heard of this issue, but he googled it with me on the line and found a bunch of people that were experiencing the same issue. ???
