Help when playing on free download games does it use your internet allowance?

when playing on games i have downloaded for free will it connect to the internet when i am playing on them and use my allowance?
 
It depends on the game- if you are playing with others online or even if the game is ad based and has ads scrolling at the bottom it uses data.
