Help When to do a factory reset

I tend to wipe my computer clean and do a fresh install of everything every year or so just to get it running like new again and weed out all the junk that may have been installed and uninstalled over that time. I am wondering if that helps Android as well. Do they tend to slow down over time if you install and uninstall a lot of apps?

If something like your browser slows you could clean that cache, but as far as wiping the whole phone I don't see the point unless it's causing issues like locking up or some other weird stuff. This probably be caused by a bad app or bad install of another nature. I have a few home screen launchers I switch between for the variety and find some use more RAM than others. SPB shell being the worst offender in this area and can cause lagginess. I wouldn't wipe the phone tho just install a diff one and maybe reboot and it's all good again.
So bottom line is no, you probably would not get any benefit other than just cleaning the slate and starting over, and what would that remedy? If your putting the same stuff back then?? I guess I don't see the point. I wouldn't worry about it. If you get a slow down. look to your apps. See what's using the resources, then decide to dump it or whatever.
