I don't, really. I expect I'll only have my spectrum for another month or so. I'll be moving to either the N4 or p930.

Ok, I'll probably move on to the DNA i don't like lg that much well not for there phones cause they are slow on updates as we all know

Cool.

But both the N4 and p930 have vendor ics/jb and great cm support.

And as you might expect, vendor updates aren't a huge concern for me. ;)

My biggest concerns in a phone are solid hardware, unlocked/unlockable boot loader, and no Samsung (because they use rfs and it screws the kernel up). LG was all of that until they started with the locked boot loaders. So I really don't expect to buy LG again after the N4/p930.
 
Yeah lg was stupid when they locked down the boot loader and Asus did that too but at least they made their own unlocker tool that wouldn't break their Bluetooth but I'll probably go to a droid or any nexus
 
Hey TDM, what settings do you usually use with mkbootimg? I keep trying to package up this new zImage, but nothing I set it at will boot properly. Same deal with updating thru abootimg.

For the spectrum you need the ramdiskaddr param. I believe you need an ICS or later mkbootimg for this.

I use this command line:

Well, for those of us that aren't ditching our devices, are you guys telling us you're not going to dev for the device after you get your new one?

Yeah, I'm afraid I'm going to sell it, and my marquee also, to finance a used p930 or half of a new N4. It's pretty hard to dev for a phone that you don't have lol.

I hope you're still going to build one last kernel with the new source code before you leave. Everything I've tried building so far just hangs at the boot menu.

What we're going to try to get for your spectrum? You are probably the best dev we have and it would suck to lose you so I was thinking that it probably wouldn't be to hard to raise the money for you to keep it. We've bought alot of phones for people and I'm sure the community wouldn't mind putting up the cash to help keep you onboard.

Just let us know if you are willing to except this offer and we'll have the money for you in no time.

I appreciate that a lot, thanks. But to be honest what I would need for good development is VZW service. I am using my spectrum on Sprint (VM actually) which is why I haven't made any progress with data. I was hoping one of the other devs could get data working.

I'm pretty sure VZW 4g service requires an expensive contract and there's no way you guys are going to pay for two years of my phone service. I just couldn't accept that anyway.

If someone could loan me a spectrum with active service for a week or two that might work. But who can spare an active phone for that long...? And 4g on cdma is such a strange thing, there's no guarantee that I could figure it out.

But to answer directly, I paid $150 for it on ebay and that's the most I could expect out of it. It's in great shape, close to mint, just had a blacklisted esn (which is now zeroed). If anyone here wants it let me know.

We could get a thread going for you with a chip in counter for 150. We'll need a donate link from you. But I'll let Andy handle this. Hopefully he sees this thread and can take it from here because he's setup several donation threads before and knows better how to do it. With the promise of cm10 and kernel development I'm sure 150 isn't going to be hard to do. And who knows we may even be able to get you a phone with service. I may even be willing to send you mine. But first we need to make it so you can keep your spectrum.

I believe that is what PG did. Not sure if he got data working or not.

If I was going to work on data, I would want a setup that matches vzw. Otherwise it's just begging for partial functionality and endless issues.

TDM: I know what you mean about taking donations in order for you to keep your spec, but you've done already done alot for the community and I know I for one would hate to see it end. I am more than willing to donate, if you want I will organize it and get the spec sent to you etc. I know you had mentioned that you were gonna sell it, well how about let us know what u were gonna get for a selling price and consider it sold, with the caveat that you get to keep your spectrum too! :)
Please consider this, as I know others feel the same way! Look at it as an early X-Mas present! Do you have a paypal account?

Most of us here are on VZW too, so if u need testers for data issues, you have lots of options.
