Are applications freely available or for sale from places other than the Android Market? It doesn't matter if you buy them on the device or on a PC, I'm happy to do either. I'm just interested in whether there is

And why does the Android Market web site not have a search function. Isn't it run by Google? I'm sure listing all software on the web wouldn't be beyond their technical expertise.

try single key words in search ... they will give you the broadest brush and the most hits and the likelyhood that you will find what you are looking for ...

The Search is limited to basically the text the dev puts into the description and the app's name ....

I use Cyrket - Android Market Browser to browse and search the market since the main market page lacks a search. SlideME | Android Community & Application Marketplace also has some apps there to download.
