Help Where are SMS stored?

Thanks for you reply.

Trouble is... that folder doesn't exist. data does, on the SD card.
But a 2nd data folder doesn't exist.

Running 4.0

I also searched for "mmssms.db" and some other things (using windows explorer to view files) - nothing.

It is not on the SD card, (internal memory), but in the system memory on my rooted phone running Android 4.1.2 and using Root Explorer. You will probably need to be rooted to access it.

You can acceas the file in two ways, rooting your phone and using a root browser, or make a backup using titanium or nandroid. Move it to your pc amd using winrar or similar browse through the backups data file using the path stated above and you can read them there using notepad or word.

Just clarifying that because your mention of, "two ways", and your use of commas put that as outside the rooting option...

Ah i see where the confusion lies. the sentence seemed too long without the comma break and didnt quite make sence reading it back.

Plus making the assumption than the poster knows about rooting to use those apps.

And don't forget to make sure you can see hidden files and folders. Those directories are hidden by default, even with some root browsers.
