Help where did the data button go

This morning I tried to connect to AF, only to find I couldn't find you. I checked the data symbol, but it was gray. When I looked at data in settings, the button was actually gone. How the heck did that happen and what do I do to fix it?

Try rebooting your device if you haven't already. Also, what phone/tablet are you using?

Thanks, it's a ZTE Z987 with, unfortunately, the seemingly unrootable Lollipop 5.1. I did shut it down for a while and that seemed to help, though not entirely. It's still acting up a little.

FWIW ZTEs with Lollipop 5.1 are definitely rootable, well in China they are anyway.
Is it a Verizon or something version you've got?

Is it just AF, i.e. this website, or it just can't connect to the internet at all?
