where did 'The Lounge' go?

nickdalzell

Extreme Android User
the forum to ask this specific question has vanished so apologies if this is the wrong place

That being said, what did happen to the 'Lounge' where non-Android topics (such as chat, automotive, computers and IT, etc) go? i cannot find it on the normal forum list anymore. it would be a shame to lose that feature!

Hence the dramatic drop off in activity in the lounge. Since it is mostly the "regulars" that frequent the lounge, I think this is detrimental to the site. Or maybe management prefers the members who ask one question about their phone and never come back. Their call.

Were an android forum first and foremost.

Putting android related things at the top keeps the lounge fr being a dumping ground

Yeh I think with most forums that have a definite subject, usually the "Lounge" equivalent for general chit-chat, and anything that's OT to the forum's main premise, is often down the bottom somewhere.

Probably most new members come to AF because they wish to talk or ask something about Android, and not about the weather or what's on TV or whatever. If anyone is genuinely interested and wishes to stay, they can find "Lounge" along with politics, sport, movies, cars, food, books, music. etc.

Adding to this, that is why there is an Android Questions forum at the top, so that members/non-members can receive the help they need as fast as possible and at the easiest convenience.

No need to traverse our forums to find out where to ask a question anymore :).

The change might come as upsetting to long time members who are use to the way things are, but remember, as Staff we have been here awhile too, and the change is even something that has us going, "Oh shoot, where did that forum go again?". ;)

I have had the lounge marked as one of my favorite forums for years, so I didn't notice any change.

You can mark any of the forums here as your favorite and they will always show on the left pane.

^^^Same here, I hadn't noticed it moved. As much as I did like it front and center it does make sense to bump it down a bit. I hope though that it doesn't become a barren wasteland, lots of fun to be had in there :)
