Where do I go from here?

I've been spoiled by the specs of the zmax pro and for the first time in a long time I see no natural progression to something with better or even comparable specs

My zmax pro is one with a defective screen (issues registering touch). I'm aware I could pay the 15 dollars and get a replacement etc etc but if I'm going to have to factory reset my phone (metros policy) I might as well just upgrade (I have 40+ GB of crap on my phone)

But to what? The aristo and LG k20 plus are both a step backwards in terms of specs and I don't like Samsung (s6) which is the only real "upgrade" I see that metro has. So I guess I'm looking for something GSM unlocked that's compatible with metro PCS.

In year's past I wouldn't need to ask...I'd be looking to get a Nexus device but as you know Nexus is dead and not a fan of the pixel. So?

Or maybe it'll help me knowing what you guys have moved on to or what you're planning to move on to?

Let me know.

You can get a Moto G for 170 from NewEgg with a coupon, it's got a lot of comparable specs to the Zmax Pro. The screen is half of an inch smaller but it's got 1080p, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, MicroSD, 4G LTE, SD617 CPU, plus there's root and Nougat roms available. For 220 you can get the 4GB/64GB version from B&H. I'd be thinking about getting one if I didn't already have a Zmax Pro.

I researched the Moto G before getting this and read a lot of reports of people having bad looking screens where it's too red. Also a lot of overheating.[/QUOTE]
It depends upon which Moto G you're talking about... The G4 did have a problem with overheating, I had one and it was extremely hot when I finished recording video at a holiday event this past December. It'd be very warm just with general use... I have a battery monitor widget which will put the information in the notifications and it was routinely at 100 degrees plus. I thought about sticking it in my fridge more than once.

The G5 on the other hand which I have now (I banged up my G4 and under extended warranty got the G5), I don't think I've ever seen it near 100 degrees. It runs very cool cause they changed the chip set and power demands. The same battery monitor I had with the G4 I now use on the G5 and it generally hovers between the mid-seventies and the mid-nineties. But also for the sake of context I'm not a very demanding user of my device so everyone's experience may be different. The G5 may be a mid-range budget minded device, but on a scale of mid-range budget minded devices, it's at the top of the scale and perhaps touches the low end flagships... I'm very pleased with it.

It hasn't been mentioned yet but what do you guys think of the OnePlus 5? I know it's not in the 100-200 range. It's rumored to first 450 but the spec leaks have been amazing. I've never owned a OnePlus before though .

Snapdragon 835
5.5 inch AMOLED qhd display
Dual front cameras
Dual rear cameras
Fingerprint scanner
Gyroscope (VR compatible)
4000 mAh battery
6-8 GB ram
64gb/128gb storage

I'm missing some other great features but you get the idea

Worth it?

What particular specs of the ZMax Pro are you speaking of, in terms of making a potential purchase? If you've been content with the Zmax Pro (minus the touch issues), finding a comparable/better equipped device will be easy, if you're willing to downsize to a 5.5"ish display...

Avoid Motorola, lower prices = very few sensors, low RAM and crappy cameras. The high-end Motorolas are very nice and worth the $$.

We've been had by OnePlus with a shitty 1+X, will never buy from them again, but they do get a lot of positive reviews with the 1+3.

Avoid ZTE, lol, no explanation needed there.

Nexus line is not dead. My Nexus 5, stock 6.0 will smoke an Octo-core ZTE or Kyocera device in general performance, it's still very usable and still well-developed. You should look into a used Nexus, (Not the Motorola Nexus 6) The LG N5X had a few battery blips but still good, and the Huawei N6P is a great device. Root, ROM, tweak ready, if that's your thing.

Latest and greatest on Nexus 5, of course not from Google. But runs flawlessly, better than 6.X, even with full battery optimization.
