Where do I go?

I would like to get as much information I can about all the new apps in KitKat that are always running. For example, Software update, Factory Mode, SmartcardService, ELM Agent, etc. Is there a source that explains all the apps?

Since Android has a set of apps that always runs, regardless of manufacturer, and each manufacturer has its own set of apps that always run, you're probably not going to find a single source for even a single phone and single version of Android.

All the apps you mentioned are on my at&t s4 running 4.3
