Help Where is Add to Home

arfo

Lurker
I have the following instructions to create a shortcut to a Python script.

1. Go to your home screen, click the menu button and select "Add to Home".
2. In the menu that shows up, choose "Shortcut", then "Scripts"
3. Navigate to the e4a.py script.

Now, when I click the menu button (assuming they mean the square partly hiding another square), there is no 'Add to home' choice.

Running Android 4.2.1

There is no menu button in Android 3.0 and above, the rectangle covering another rectangle is the "app switcher"

in your apps screen (the circle with a grid of dots) if you got to the section for Widgets, you should see Gmail label, bookmark, etc.

Press, hold and drag one to your home screen and it will create a shortcut. There may not be one for a file though, you may need an app that handles file shortcuts.

A file manager like Astro or ES File Explorer might do this. Maybe OI File Manager or possibly Google Drive.

Do you have an app that runs the python script?

I do have a widget for scripts, where I could select the SL4A app and then select my script.

Thanks a lot!!
:)
