Help Where is "Backup my settings"?

Hi,

I have been reading about backing up my captivate in preparation for upgrading to 2.2. All of the articles say that "Backup my settings" under Settings -> Privacy should be checked however I can't find that option. When I go to Settings -> Privacy it only has Use my location and Factory data reset.

One article mentioned setting the "Settings" as a search-able item and then searching for it, however when I go to Settings -> Search -> Searchable items I don't see "Settings" in the list.

The articles had screenshots of these options in the menu so other phones must have them. How can I find them?

Thanks.

Really? That is strange. The articles said it was available in Android 2.0 or higher. *shrug*

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out!

Where did you see that ; as far as I know it is only available on 2.2, but I may be wrong. I do know 100% that is it not available on the captivate on 2.1

This article: Complete Guide to Backing Up Your Android Phone

When talking about the app restore functionality it mentions:

"To activate this functionality, you have to make sure 'Back up my settings" is checked in the Privacy settings before you switch devices."
Then in the system settings section is says:

"If you're on an Android 2.0+ phone, you don't have to worry about most of your system settings. Just logging into a phone and waiting a few minutes will get your settings back to normal. This is controlled by the same privacy checkbox as the app restore functionality."
