Where To Get Cheap Keyboard Text n talk only

driz

Newbie
My daughters boyfriend has Straighttalk and his phone got damp , Samsung R451c, and is on the way out. He's not much the tec type and doesn't need android or anything beyond texting but hates virtual keyboards. Where can he get his hands on a cheap keyboard type phone cheap without jumping through a lot of hoops, programming ect? Thanks:confused:

Since he's already on Straight Talk the first place I would go to is Walmart. They are the exclusive ST retailer and can probably transfer the service right there.

Yea but he just want's a new phone that works on ST, I guess that's what I was trying to say before I strayed off with the details. The Wallyworld phones are more than he want's to pay for a replacement I guess. Can you pick one up off Fleabay that will work outright or stuck dealing with Wallyworld? As you can see I don't know much about ST. Up here Verizon's prices surely suck but not quite as bad as ST,s spotty coverage.

Ah my daughter just strolled in an it becomes more clear. He is wanting, needing something like the "Rugged" that Verizon used to carry. He want's to know if you can get something heavy duty like that today and unlock it to work on ST who carries nothing like that. He also want's a full keyboard, slide out if possible. If you ask me he needs a time machine...........

If you use the BYOD SIM program you could use a T-Mobile phone or an unlocked phone, but these are usually smart phones. Flashing a CDMA phone to ST is a pain, half the time it doesn't work right, and the legality is questionable.

If you don't like what's in stock at Walmart, check walmart.com and straighttalk.com. Much better selection online than in store. The LG Optimus Zip has a slide out keyboard and runs off the Verizon network, but it's a smartphone also.

Forgot to add: buying a used ST phone is hit or miss. If the previous owner did not remove it from his/her account properly, you won't be able to activate it.
