Where's my BlindType?

ckeegan

Android Enthusiast
Google bought BlindType almost 7 months ago, and we haven't heard a peep about it since. I was really hoping they would work it into Honeycomb, but nope. Maybe Ice Cream Sandwich?

Anyway, it can't be that hard, considering BlindType was about to come out for Android, and then Google wrote the check. Maybe they just bought them, so no one else would. I sincerely hope not though.

Just was on my mind, and thought I would throw that out there.

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about:
YouTube - BlindType - Demo1

Well Google is known for buying start-up companies they can use later, lol. So I believe that blind type will eventually present itself in one of the future OS.

Thanks for asking this question. I search the web regularly, hoping to hear some news about blindtype. Another month has gone by and all I hear is crickets. Hopefully we will hear something before too much longer. I would be very dissapointed if this became a dead end product. :(

Let it be known I just found this thread by typing "BlindType android 2011" into Google. Your question is the top result. I was -hoping- to find a news story, something that would indicate what the deal is with the typing software.

I can't stand my current default keyboard. I suck at typing on it. I've had my Evo since the day it launched, and I'm still not half as fast as I was on my Blackberry.

Yeah, there's no news on BlindType :(

What do you feel about Swype? I use SwiftKey and it is pretty good.

I personally think Google acquired BlindType too late in the Gingerbread development process to incorporate it into 2.3.

I have no inside knowledge, but I fully expect BlindType (in some form) to be included in Ice Cream Sandwich. I think the larger screen on the Nexus Prime would be great with BlindType.

PS - I've never owned a phone without a hardware keyboard, so BlindType on a larger screen might just make me consider a phone without one..

I checked a couple of BlindType related videos on Youtube and this must come across as naive, but what does BlindType do, that SwiftKey X can't? I've been using SwiftKey X for 3 months and cannot imagine typing on my phone without it.

I was looking for this thread yesterday... nice!

Yea, I'm wondering whatever happened to this. I know the default android keyboard has much better prediction over ones from HTC, Moto, and competes with some of the other ones that specialize in prediction over new-age function like Swype and the failure that 8-pen was. Good idea but just wasn't meant to work out very well...

Anywho, I told my roommate here about it, he's by no means anywhere near tech oriented, and he just said, 'That's stupid. Why don't they just use if it if they bought it?'. I can't agree more. Unless they undermined it an just incorporated it loosely in the stock android keyboard, I don't think it was a good thing Google bought this one.

Googled 'BlindType 2011' and ended up here. So, ummmm...who do I have to kill to get this on my phone? Seriously, let me at 'em because this looks freakin, amaz-a-zing. Come on google, stop being selfish and share with everyone else, I know you brought enough for the whole damn class.

I've been waiting for this app since, like, the last ice age. I'm getting pretty impatient and may resort to simply implanting my phone directly into my skull, which is the only way I will achieve typing like BlindType will allow. I wants it real bad like.

Has anyone tried the go keyboard? (from the go launcher people) To me, a person who uses it and has seen the blindtype video, it seems like it has some blindtype type tech in it.

Regular GB kbd can correct a word if you get 1 MAYBE 2 letters wrong keyboars=keyboard but go keyboard you can get every letter wrong as long as it's close physically to the correct: lwunpstf=keyboard.

Try this: dnijw htwwb ssoku

If you try it and it looks ugly with the woodgrain, install the black theme.
Also it's too big and makes annoying noises, you'll need to go to setting to turn the noise off and also try changing the key size from 3 down to 1 and suggestion size down to 0 it's nice.

It does swyping type stuff too but I don't do that never have and can't comment on how good or bad that is.
