Help Where's my droid and tasker Location

DaveV

Lurker
Hi - have Orange San Francisco - v2.2 (Froyo?) in the UK. I have installed "Where's my Droid" and Tasker (setting up a GPS-ON;Get_Location;SMS back %LOC)

I have GPS turned on anyway at the moment.

Both the above do not seem to be able to extract the NET or GPS location.

Where's my Droid returns "GPS and Network location can not be gotten. Both are disabled"
Tasker returns an SMS with %LOC not the value of such a variable.

Also used takser to show the &LOCN variable which is also emptly set as %LOCN

Anny ideas ??? - Want to be able to recover the phone if lost.

Thanks Dave

what happens with these type of apps if the theif changes sim +doesnt put in apn settings or doesnt have data m8?

There's another one you can try called ES Security Manager which will lock your handset by text or it will lock when another SIM is inserted.

I think if you link to your gmail account, it will send you an email with an approximate location of your handset.

can it do that (the email) without the appropriate apn for whatever sim the theif uses tho m8?
i wouldnt want my stolen phone to lock down (it would just get binned)... i want the person to keep it charged+use it so i get the pleasure of trackin them down :-)
any1 know if Plan B app works?

Never used Plan B, so can't be sure.

If you're running Swedish Spring though, that has a load of APN's pre configured (I think) so whatever SIM Card was used, it would have a data connection.
