It was $194.77 from 2 $100 Walmart gift cards. The only thing I meant about cricket was they used to have good people who knew stuff. Now I guess they don't. Your advice would be good if only I could get that far. It's as if you said go up the stairs from the living room to the first bedroom and I was stuck outside in the dark with the door locked and no key. Why didn't they say the pos was locked? Maybe I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. I called their number which is only robocrap. How do I talk to a real person about this?
I noticed this thing claims to be TracFone. Does that have something to do with the problem? Apparently, the FCC is forcing these evil carriers to unlock phones at customer request. Why should that even be necessary? Still, if that would do it, I'll probably have to deal with it. They're conveniently business houred instead of 24/7 as they should be.
I finally got hold of somebody in India probably and he said that I would have to send them $150 to unlock it. That's almost as much as the piece of junk cost. What is wrong with these evil idiots? Should I try to get a replacement unlocked phone or what? I will never give a penny to TracFone.

Plus, even if you paid the $150 to unlock the device, the next thing you would be told is that you must have had TracPhone service for at least a year before they will unlock it.
How is there a PIN lock (is that what I am seeing?) set up on the device?
Did you set that up?
If not, then that is a red flag right there.
Are you sure the device you ordered was supposed to be unlocked?

So, after looking it up, it appears that the device is available two ways from Wal-Mart- locked through Straight Talk (Straight talk uses TracPhone phones) and unlocked.
If you actually bought an unlocked phone, then the bill of sale will say as much, even though it will have a provider's name somewhere on it.
It looks like you were sent the wrong device, or ordered the wrong device altogether.

I wonder if I could just put in a sim card long enough to trick it, set it up off of the sd card with No Root Firewall, take out the sim, and live happily ever after for once. Maybe I could even leave in the sim because it's such a hassle dealing with those stupid little "trays" or whatever they're supposed to be. What happened to the good old phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S5, that could be opened with maybe a dime and the cards put in, taken out, battery exchanged, etc.? Does anybody still make those?

An unlocked device from Wal-Mart shows no trace of any carrier.
As soon as you saw anything otherwise, you should have gone back.
At this point, it has been a long time- so long, in fact, that most likely you will have difficulty even getting the carrier to activate the device- without going back to Wal-Mart and going through lengthy customer service.

Whatever you find online, StraightTalk is known to lock devices down tight.
What SIM are you talking about?
The one it came with?
If you put any SIM into it at this point, it will most likely just be the same- except you will have an annoying SIM notification going on all the time.
If all you wanted the device for was wi-fi use, no SIM is required at all anyway.
You don't even need a SIM for emergency calls.
You may have already exceeded the time limit in which you could have taken it back.
I cannot for the life of me understand why you would not have just settled for an unlocked device that was right there in stock.
I have bought my last four devices from Wal-Mart, the last one being unlocked.
I use the other three exclusively on wi-fi, and the unlocked one is my everyday driver.
Never had any of these problems that you are having.

a new device you may get, but unless you make very clear to them what happened you will wind up with yet another TracPhone.
You need to be sure that they understand that you paid for an unlocked device- not one from Tracphone.
Hopefully you still have your receipt and can forwardca copy to them, showing that an unlocked device is what was purchased?

Can you cover the label in clear tape?
Also, be sure that you include a letter that you have made copy of that clearly states the exact problem and happenings.

Went to Harbor Freight tonight.
They have rolls of clear packaging tape for $4.

I sent it off from Walgreens yesterday and got a confirmation from FedEx. Now I just have to wait for Walmart to do their job, ha. Maybe I should have saved up and gotten one from Cricket. I would have had to pay cash probably, but maybe it would have been worth it just to avoid all this hassle. Now one of my friends says he was worried because he couldn't get in touch with me (I sure don't have a working phone). He's bugging me to get rigged up for on the go instead of just wifi, in case something bad happens. I don't want to be dragging an expensive, breakable phone everywhere, especially after this disaster. Is there some kind of cheap burner I could get for calls only? That way if the worst happens and it breaks, gets lost, etc. I wouldn't be out my real phone.

I was thinking about your current issues, and looked around the phone department.
The only Moto G Stylus that was available was NOT unlocked- it is a TracFone from Straight Talk.
The unlocked Moto devices were the Moto e6, the Moto G Play, and the Moto G Power.
Maybe the Moto G Stylus was offered unlocked as well, but then discontinued?
I did not ask any employees, but there was not one on display.
Normally display models are never sold, so I don't know.
Perhaps your local Wal-Mart is different?

So it would be smart to go over everything again and make double sure.
Because if this model is not available unlocked, then you will just get another of the same.

14 days from date of purchase, with an unopened package.

I think they finally got it, despite a delay with FedEx. Now those idiots are saying (in bad English) that there's some other delay and that I should cancel and reorder AGAIN. I would say this is getting ridiculous, but it's already been there. Do I have some kind of recourse? How the hell do I get this phone out of them?

You will go around in circles with people thousands of miles away that are reading a script.
I can't imagine why they had you ship the phone back to wherever when you could have just brought it into the store.
My guess is that at best they will just send you another one of the same that you got before.
You will be lucky if it is not the exact same one.
I learned a long time ago (the hard way) not to buy things that are out of stock in the hopes that they will get more.
Stores like Wal-Mart keep stock of items that are still being sold.
If the store has none, there is a good chance that the item has been discontinued.
An item that is discontinued may never be restocked.
The big problem for you is that you have already paid for this device.
You should have just kept checking back for a while to see if they ever got more, or just got something else that was in stock.

They admitted that they got it back, and now they're supposed to send a replacement by Friday, November 19. Cross your fingers. I don't trust these jerks at all. In fact, probably the only reason they are doing this is because just last night I emailed them about the complaint I successfully filed with the Better Business Bureau.

I am going to predict that you get an identical device (TracFone) as the one that you sent in.
I hope that I am wrong, but we will see how it goes.
