Which Android Phone is Best For Business?

Hey y'all,

My boss needs a new phone, and to be honest, he needs something other than a Blackberry.

I'd love to know what you guys consider to be the best phone out there for business.

I'm talking features, customized settings, apps, the works...

It would be great to leave a good impression on the boss, so your opinions are more than appreciated!

Phones are very personal and lot depends on your boss and what he wants to do with it. Some phones are better for people who tend to do this more than that. But if you do more of that another phone would be better, etc.

But consider the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.....

I don't remember details, but I remember hearing that it was easy to hook up to show presentations off of it. Not 100% sure.

According to the Galaxy Note 2 website it has the following Enterprise Solutions:
On Device Encryption (H/W)
Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
VPN(F5, Cisco, Juniper)
MDM(Sybase Afaria, MobileIron, SOTI, Good)
CCX
VMware MVP

The big screen may be a negative (i.e. if he holds his phone against his ear a lot perhaps it will be awkward), but it also allows for multi-window split screen of two apps simultaneously.

Also, he will have the biggest screen in the room - which to some bosses may make the right impression!

(On a side note, if he is extremely used to a blackberry he may like one of the Android phones with a slideout keyboard. They are usually landscape keyboards and therefore much wider than the blackberry. But the tactile feel may make the transition easier for him as he can also use the touchscreen keyboard and get used to it. That way he won't go cold turkey on a physical keyboard.)

LOL . . . avoid all Virgin Mobile phones. You are not allowed to use them for business. Rather odd, I think.

Personally I think the HTC Mail app is the best around assuming that he'll use it for emails. If you get a HTC phone with a big screen size then editing documents would be easier.

But yeah the Note 2 would be best because of the screen size and the pen allowing for editing documents a lot easier.

Perhpas the galaxy note 2 because of all the features it has beyond a regular android phone. Still way to big for my taste, so I'd say the razr maxx for the sole reason that a dead phone doesn't do anybody any good.

I echo the recommendation for the Note 2, particularly if he is looking at has phone as a replacement for a notepad. However some thoughts on a couple alternatives:

Samsung Galaxy S3 - large screen, decent battery life, all around great phone
Motorola Photon LTE 4g - it is a top end phone on par with the S3 and physical keyboard
HTC One X - In my opinion the Sense interface is probably the best manufactuer custom interface out there
Razr Maxx - if battery life is the most important thing then this is probably the phone to get.

Ultimately, it depends on which features are most important to your to your boss. As a default choice though - the Note 2.

I would never let someone else pick a phone for me.
Unless I really wasn't "into" playing around with it and just wanted something that works out of the box.... in which case I'd get an iPhone.

Neither would I, but I guess he considers a phone run to be just another chore for the personal assistant.

Thank you all for the fast replies and valuable information. I've just purchased the -you guessed it- Note 2.

I think it's great and a big screen will come in handy for reading scripts and call sheets.

At least you can tell him that no other phone (as in phone phone) currently has a bigger screen - one that can even split screen - is currently available o the market.

If he doesn't like it, you can probably get him an S3 and then YOU get a Note 2 (hopefully).

If your boss is not very technical, you could be setting him up for a lot of grief. And if you make the recommendation and are not familiar with the phone to help him, you will end up looking pretty stupid.

Great news,
Le boss is practically enthralled with the Note 2. He's on it 24/7 and he's got nothing but good comments about it.
I showed him the split screen feature and well, this was his reaction : @__@ & ^___^

Thanks, peeps! Forever in gratitude.
