Which app does this?

I am looking for an app that can tranfer files between my PC and my Android and not sure what it is called. Any suggestions? Thanks again.

Dropbox or other cloud storage services will work or transfer directly via USB connection by using the phone in mass storage mode.

... or use your home network via WiFi with a file manager like EStrongs File Explorer :)

Yep, EStrongs File Explorer for me too, assuming you have wifi at home. There are others like it but ES was recommended so that's what I use.

Dropbox is fine but it is an intermediate storage - transfer from your phone to dropbox, then transfer from dropbox to your PC.

ES will do the transfer direct to your PC. Or, as Crashdamage said, connect via USB and you can use Windows to drag and drop which should be even easier (that would be my preferred option but I seem to have a problem with my PC's USB :( )

Huh? I just drop something into the Dropbox folder at one side, sync, and there it is on the other.

If I did that with USB to the PC, not only would I have to connect a cable, I

Perhaps I've missed something, but isn't dropbox a form of cloud storage? When you drop something into it from your PC can you then access it from any other PC or mobile without the original source PC from being on? Or does the original PC still need to be on to give you access?

Dropping it into dropbox is one transfer.

To access it on a second PC or mobile will require a second transfer unless it takes it directly from the original source. ie from dropbox to mobile is a second transfer. Whether you copy it across or stream it (open it directly from dropbox), it is still transferring the data.

I appreciate the convenience of dropbox and other cloud storage providers but if you are specifically transferring files it is still a double transfer, it's not magic, even if it does it behind the scenes when you 'sync'

Maybe it's an old fashioned way of thinking and only matters in a minority of cases but if you are being charged for internet access on both devices then you will be charged on both sides whereas USB or local wifi will incur no charges (and by charges I mean whether it's pay as you go or using up part of a limited quota)

Transferring files from one device to another would probably be better done by a usb transfer. now if you were planning to manage these files and transfer these files back and forth, then dropbox or other cloud storage apps are the best deal you can get.

Here’s an example of why I like Dropbox (or any cloud drive).

At home on the PC, I add a shopping list to a text file I keep in the Dropbox folder. I save it. I go to the store.

I pull the droid out of my pocket and open that file in its Dropbox folders. There’s the shopping list.

Pretty much the same thing as cramming the list into an appointment on my calendar, but easier to keep track of. Not only that, the file could be any size or any workable format and there it is.
