I plan to use the smartphone mostly with WiFi connection when available, little use of mobile data.
then, in google play and most apps stores, from the description it looks to me that almost none can be used offline.
Which apps could I use offline (without needing wifi connection)? I am mostly interested in the apps in categories "productivity" & "tools".

Hi arturo,

Welcome to the forum.

If I have read your question correctly it appears to me that you are not quite clear on the difference between "permissions" - what an app has access to, and whats required for the app to function.

I have a flashlight app that for some reason has permission to access to my location ( I have no idea why it needs this), however I can still turn on the flashlight and use it even if the phone has no network or GPS connection.

Another example, I use another app called WPS Office that allows me to work with MS Office documents (Word, Excel etc) and WPS Office has permission to access files I keep in Dropbox. I keep some documents in Dropbox so they are available on my phone and on my home computer. I also have some documents that are downloaded and stored on my phone SD card. Now when I don't have WiFi or network connection, like I'm on a plane and have it in airplane mode, I don't have access to the documents that are in Dropbox, but I can still use WPS Office to work with the documents that are on my SD card.

So a quick test to see if those apps work without a connection, just switch into "airplane mode" and see what they do.

Hope that helps.
