Hi there y'all, well my Iphone decided to take a dip in my pool and I was thinking it was time to switch it up a bit and give the Android a whirl seeing how much some friends of mine enjoy there's...

So what a better place to ask my question than THE Android forum. My question is which phone to get with AT&T??? I do everything from my phone, music, email, web, gps etc.

I appreciate all replies and preferences...

Thanks,
K9

I recently switched to at&t and picked up the infuse 4g. I really like it. The battery life is good and should last you most of the day, it is powerful enough for most things and the screen is gorgous.

I personally think the infuse is the best at&t has to offer right now but you should also consider the atrix. It is the most powerful phone at&t has to offer right now, which may come in handy down the road. I did not get it because I could not load 3rd party apps on it and everything I hear is the skin motorola puts on their phone is very laggy. The third party app thing is important if you want to use the amazon app store where a lot of iOS games are coming out first on. Not to mention I have gotten a lot of cool games off their app of the day where those ports usually show up.

You can also consider the captivate. It is the infuse with a smaller screen and slightly slower processor. I think it also has a better development community but don't hold me to that. I would not consider the inspire because the battery in it is far to small for a phone of its caliber.

Thats how I look at the current phones on at&t's lineup. Others might see it differently and really is up to you. Go by the store and check these phones out and see which ones you prefer.

Hey thanks alot...

Yeah, I've narrowed my selections down to the Atrix and Captivate, would love the Infuse but the wife says I spend too much already

I have really been leaning more towards the Atrix but like you mentioned doesn't allow the 3rd party apps and I like the brightness of the Captivates screen so I don't know...I guess it's a craps shoot :)

Out of those two I would suggest the Atrix, the price has dropped considerably from launch date and it's the most powerful phone out on AT&T right now. Also, 3rd party installs shouldn't be a problem now, AT&T has sent out an update to enable unknown sources. As for the laggy UI, with the Gingerbread update, Motorola has decided to unlock their boot-loaders, the dev community should be pumping out kernels & roms as we speak.

BTW - I moved this to the AT&T forum since it's carrier specific

Thanks
Shawn

I recommend the LG Thrill 4G. It will have 3D and come with LOADS of free 3D stuff. Also since AT&T is deploying LTE this summer, it could be their first LTE Phone. And btw it's gonna be the most powerful android phone on at&t when it comes out.

Captivate is a great phone, but it's almost a year old. How much longer is Samsung going to support it? It'll get gingerbread, but after that...??

There is a good Atrix vs Inspire thread going. check that out.

Infuse is ginormous.

And Samsung is going to drop Attain very soon. The release date could come any day now. Rumors have said "late July" for about a month now.

Attain, Function, Within = Galaxy S II on the 3 big networks. Attain is gonna blow Atrix and Infuse outta the water. You can look up specs on the international SGS2 now to get an idea of what's coming. And NOBODY compares to Samsung when it comes to screen/display quality.

I would certainly pick the Samsung Infuse followed by the HTC Inspire. Check if you can get them on Amazon, they are generally cheaper.

Infuse 4G, but if u wait there are some great dual core phones coming out, as well as tablets. Sony experia play and psp vita r supposed to be out soon too

Yeah, I've narrowed my selections down to the Atrix and Captivate)

DON'T GET THE CAPTIVATE. The GPS chip sucks and it lags like hell. The screen quality is great but other than that, it's the worst experience I've ever had with a piece of technology. My first one I had to replace for random shut downs.

Personally, I would just get the atrix 4g or rather the samsung nexus s which is just like the captivate except that it doesn't have expandable memory, or gorilla glass. On the other hand it doesn't lag and has a working gps chip along with camera flash. It also has stock android which means faster updates. The nexus s is "officially" coming to at&t on July 24th.

Nexus S doesn't have front facing camera, either. Not sure if Captivate does. Epic (sprint version) does. Just thought that might be worth mentioning.

Samsung president says Attain/Function/Within (SGS2) will be released in August.

That's just dumb. I don't understand why a flagship phone would vary so much between carriers. I truly hope that is not the case this time around.

After owning a few other Android models from Verizon and AT&T, I'm now using a Galaxy S (on AT&T) I picked up when overseas, and it's been great. About four months old now, it's very fast, stable and trouble free. The battery life is the best of the five different Androids I've owned so far.

Atrix after the new update to 2.3.4 is the best phone in Att period.
It may be for you, but the best Android phone? Not really.

It's very good, but we all have different tastes and different usage patterns.

If we go by specs, worldwide reviews, and performance benchmarks, it's widely accepted the best by a wide margin is the Galaxy S II.

(soon to be offered by AT&T)
