Which chipset in the US?

exactly the same as the international version.
i think they chose to use a separate chip to handle 4G so they didn't have to release the phone with 2 very different spec sheets.

from wikipedia:
SoC Samsung Exynos 4412 Quad
CPU 1.6 GHz quad-core Cortex-A9
GPU ARM Mali-400MP

the exynos still can't handle lte, but as i said before they fixed that by having a separate chip handle lte.
so lte will drain a little more battery, but you do get a quad core cpu.

That seems like contradictory statement. There is no AP except Qualcomm S4 that integrates LTE modem into the processor. Everything else has modem chip outside the processor. If it can work with separate LTE modem chip, then it works with LTE just fine.

So far old S3 snapdragon, S4 Pro, OMAP4, Exynos 4, Apple A6 all can work with separate LTE modem chip (mostly qualcomm). Nvidia is working to come up their own LTE chipset for Tegra3.
