Root Which icons do I need to edit for notification icons?

Which specific files inside the systemui.apk and framework-res.apk do I have to change to change the default system colors on a sense 3.6 ROM?

Basically, Im bored of the plain white icons on the notification bar, And HATE how the green checkboxes and sliders dont match anything. I am looking to turn all the icons and sliders/checkboxes red, To match VM.

I tried to get used to the blue on the JB ROMs, But I have always despised blue and could never get around to liking it. There are a few red themes for JB floating around, But nothing that I absolutely like.

I ended up paying for the red theme for negalites bluROM and used that ROM for a while, But I dont exactly like the icons with the backglow and fuzziness and such. I just want to make my own icons to my liking so I dont have to look at the ugliness anymore. :D Possibly a JB style, But red.

When I look in the files, There seems to be multiples of each notification icon, Along with alot of other ones that Ive never seen on my notification bar before. Could anyone give me a quick and dirty file list of which ones are actually used?

Is it safe to delete whatever isnt used? Will it harm anything?

Well, Ive never DELETED anything, so I'm not sure. Are you modifying sense based or AOSP? If youre talking about signal bars, its something like cdma_sys_6signal_0-6.png

Something like that...In sense, anyway. I havent tweaked any AOKP/AOSP signal bars, but you should be able to find them quickly.

I am going to be editing sense based files. I am using Harmonia right now, But I took the systemui and framework apks from my original ROM that came preinstalled on my phone when I bought it, So no one complains Im editing their work.

As far as I can tell, They are almost identical anyway, Except for the battery icons, Which will be changed when I get to those. I am probably going to take the AOSP icons, and make them red and inject them into the sense based apks.

Looks like ALOT of work in photoshop coming up. :p

I wont delete anything just yet, But if anyone else knows if it will effect anything, Let me know.

I know you can delete SOME. EG GPS Icon, since it always stays on.

I think the worst deleting an image will do is that the image will not show up.

But yeah, you have tons of work ahead of you. :P

Omg you stole my idea what a coincidence lol. To theme you need winrar or 7zip, go in to system/app/ whatever you want to theme, just copy the folder then look on drawable-hdpi then you can theme the icons with gimp or photoshop. :p.

I started theming in red but it's kind of bleh now idk why I keep changing xD.

I think I'll theme it something simpler like white and black. So ill start with a senseless rom.

If you want to theme harmonia red, get ready for some extreme editing. :p Hope this helped. Also you don't need to decompile if you want to edit images besides 9pngs thank god. :D

i already know where the files are in the apks, I was just curious if anyone knew which i dont need to edit, making life a little easier. I never liked the circle vattery icon either, So i am going to end up making 100 of those. lol D= plus the checkboxes/sliders.. theres probably 130 i have to edit.

You don't need to decompile for them, either. They are just a bit of a pain. As far as batteries go, for just changing a quick color, might I suggest GIMP? It has a colorize feature which works quite nicely. Saves a bit of time, too.

the thing about the battery icon is there is 1 image per percent, Meaning there is 100 images, Not including the charging animation. D=

Yeah, Im too lazy to do all that work to be honest...

Thats why my themes never get finished >_>

I was looking, And themes dont seem to change the notification icons on sense ROMs, Do they? Every theme Ive seen is the same plain boring white icons. If so, Ill just make a theme instead of manually editing apks. I have no idea how to make a theme, But I probably could learn quick.

Probably a good idea I havent actually started yet. :p

That's exactly what I do. :p

Ive always used PhotoShop since cs4. My plan was to edit one image, Save the style, And just apply that style to whatever set I decide to use. Im leaning towards the JB icons, But red.

Also, a little off topic, Does anyone know how to enable the 3g PLUS regular signal strength, Like in MIUI Roms? I know for a fact that they both work independently in MIUI. It would be cool to get that to work on sense.

I don't think any dev's done that on sense.

You mean like sense skins? I don't THINK so.

Well, I ended up going back to PACman... Heres what I got so far. Still have alot more icons to do, Including the battery and quicksettings icons etc....

How does it look?

I also edited the "connected but not fully connected" icons to orange, So you can definitely tell the difference. This only shows when you turn on wifi or something and its waiting to connect.

Feedback is appreciated. :D

Whew. After HOURS of making icons, Renaming 200 battery icons 3 times... and editing the .apk.. This is the final result.

Edit: Well.. I am not entirely happy with the battery icon.. But itl have to do. I am not going through that process again to fix it.. LOL.

Looks like I forgot to insert the bluetooth image too.. But that is a quick fix. :p
