Root Which ICS should I use?

Seanette

Android Expert
My phone's getting flaky and irritating enough that I think it's time for a wipe and rebuild. I'm currently on CM7 (Gingerbread), but I would really like to move up in the Android world. ;)

I plan to re-ROM my phone this weekend, and am trying to decide between the MTDEV-CM9 and Paranoid Android ICS ROMs.

I consider working back camera, WiFi, and GPS essentials. I don't really care about front camera or HDMI. Being able to record video would be nice, but isn't that big a deal to me.

My major criteria include stability, battery life, and performance.

Let the debate about which ROM is better begin. :D

BTW, I'm also looking to switch launchers. Currently using GO, getting fed up with it always forgetting it's the default after one of its several-times-a-week updates and VERY fed up with all the "get this theme, get this other item" marketing pushiness from the dev. Major launcher criterion is having folders. Themes and other appearance stuff is nice, but I do tend to think practical.

If you want stability, performance, and you don't care about front camera- then MTDEV-CM9 for sure.
Paranoid Android if you want everything working except for video.
For launchers, I seem to be very attracted to Apex. You can try Nova, but I've never found it too appealing.
Oh if you're looking for launchers for 2.3, GO is the best option. Apex and Nova are 4.0+ only.

Paranoid Android by Bsyds is by far the best so far. MTDEV CM 9 was good, but development has slowed quite a bit with everyone's personal lives understandably taking front seat. Bsyds has been doing a stellar job with PA ICS and has made great progress in implementing all the the Triumph's functionality into his rom. I would recommend that one.

PA ROM by BSydz is the way to go hands down!I like the MTDEV team but it has been slow for them cause I think it's just one guy and he has ALOT of real life stuff on his plate. The PA ROM has working front and back camera and you can video chat on Skype and ooVoo.On CM9 you can't cause if you enable video you get stuck in a never ending loading screen.I haven't tested GPS on PA but I know that on CM9 with the 3-20 build the GPS in navigation took forever to get the lock on me but afterwards it stayed locked for 12 hrs til I got where I was going.PA ROM does have a text glitch that causes the words in texts to not be readable simple fix is close out the app then reopen or to reset phone.

I'm going to switch from CM7 to PA real soon.

Not out of any necessity, but just because I want to.

And because I can.

;)
