which is best app to prevent apps auto starting

None here recommended auto task killer (op didn't ask about auto task killers...you are the one who posted auto task killer link to support your response). What I'm saying is that you are oversimplifying. You don't know what phone he had. He has a right to ask the question. Preventing certain apps from autostarting (which is different than killing) may a good solution for him, and the response "don't worry about anything to do with memory" (paraphrased) is not appropriate imo, at least without more info.
I know this is an old thread but I am having problems with my phone running very slow because of running apps auto starting ie google maps, which I can't shut down. I have an older phone, a samsung transform ultra. And it getts bogged down to the point where ram usage is at 91% sometimes, so I agree with you and thank u for defending us who can't afford a new phone and like there current phone evn if it is outdated.

Glad you agreed. The needs for older phones can be a little different.

I don't know if you had a question, but I'll repeat/summarize my view on the situation:
Gemini Apps manager will do the trick to prevent apps from autostarting (needs root).
It is not an auto-task killer or even a manual task killer.
It simply prevents the app from auto-starting.
And it blocks auto-starting not just at boot condition, but on a number of other conditions which are listed within Gemini for each app (varies by app).
There is some chance that if you block something from auto-starting, then it won't work the way you expect later on. You've got to try it and find out. (if you're not afraid to try freezing/unfreezing an app, then you shouldn't be afraid to try auto-start blocking the app and then manually starting it... which accomplishes the same result much more easily).
I blocked Google Maps from auto-starting using Gemini for a long time on my old phone and it never caused any problems. It worked fine and did exactly what I expected it to. Of course it remained resident once manually started until I forced closed the process or rebooted.

Rom Toolbox Pro is a great app with many features and of course, there's an auto start manager that allows you to disable various receivers off the apps that start on boot. There's also a freeze/deep freeze feature as well. Great app worth the $$$
