As Andy says, the question I'd ask isn't "bloat free" but "trustworthy". Go back to before it supported network or cloud folders and you are probably fine, but I don't know whether those are features you use. Otherwise I have to say that while I understand not wanting to change an app you find useful and are familiar with, once a developer has lost my trust I can't really use their app, no matter how much I previously liked it. I've even removed AquaMail from all of my devices, because I just can't feel comfortable with Mobi Systems in control now (but I gave my money to the guy who made it a great app, not to Mobi, and I'm fine with that).
Though I do still have a pre-Cheetah copy of QuickPic, because I did trust that app until CM bought it and it still does some things very well. But both of these are examples of the dev changing, rather than the same dev being caught in shady practices. In the latter case I would always delete the app and move on, as I did with ES. But it is your device, your choice.
