Help Which is your next smartphone?

I wanted to get one of these babies :)

I am at a crossroads. I've been loyal to Motorola for a number of years. (9 or 10 years I guess) With the recent acquisition by Lenovo and some of the recent decisions made by new management I am not sure I'll be continuing with them. I currently have the N6 and have considered the N6P as well as the N5X but am not real keen on them. Also considered LG V10 and LG G4 or 5 ... I'd hate to lose my Nexus control though. I don't know, at the moment I am stuck with what I have due to my own self imposed guidelines. It looks like the N6 could be the last great Motorola phone and nothing new has got me geeked yet.

Interested to see what other people say (earnestly and in jest!) ...

My most recent phone now is the G4, thought with there being so much development for the G3, the G4 would follow in the footsteps. Unfortunately they have restricted so many of the devices bootloaders there is only just now a few ROMs and Kernels coming about. My last phone was Sony Z1 which couldn't unlock the bootloader so I think there was a choice of 2 ROMs and no Kernels for me in the two years I had it. When I got the LG it was a toss-up between that and the flagship HTC at the time (can't remember what that was now). I think I will keep my eyes on what HTC develop next and probably go for that unless something spectacular comes about....still got 18 months to ponder on it anyway.
 
I'm not tied to any upgrade cycle, but my phone's coming up to 3 years now, and while battery is generally OK it's lost some capacity, so if anything suitable comes out this year I'll probably jump. The thing I'm watching most closely is what HTC come out with (I've had good experiences with their devices), but otherwise, well: rumours that LG will move to a metal body with removable battery are interesting, but I expect it will be a bit big for my tastes. If it reaches the Autumn and a new Sony Zn Compact comes out that's a possible. There's also a rumour that this year's Nexii will be made by HTC in 2 sizes, but will Google gimp the smaller device, e.g. limited storage as in the 5X (as I've no interest in phablets)?

Or, you never know, someone might do something new and interesting that changes the game? No, I'm not getting my hopes up ;)
 
I have a 2nd gen Moto X and love it. It's not getting Marshmallow or any updates ever again (thanks Verizon, jerks) but it's still a great phone. If I had to get a new phone right now I'd consider getting another, or maybe a Moto X Pure but I do like an amoled display.

Of course I'm really holding out for Project Ara... :rolleyes:

SAME BOAT!! I too have been very loyal to Moto and I love my Turbo. Not that impressed with the Turbo 2. My choices today if I ran over my phone with a truck would be HTC or Nexus. I'd def look at the LG G4, but for the money, I might go with the HTC one M9. Switching phones will be a big deal since I've used Droids for so long; I'll want a test run with my new device. If possible.

whenever someone makes something with comprehensive bands support like the Nexus/Moto XP/iPhone6S, with at least a proper removable battery; SD support too.

A true power user's phone. Not these POS's with only a 3 hour battery life.
 
I was going to go Moto next, because my N6 has been amazing...but Lenovo has utterly destroyed them, so I'll probably stick with the Nexus line.
 
I just got a new Nexus 6P a couple of months ago. I was hoping to get an Ara phone, but they weren't commercially available yet. Maybe it will be available when I'm ready to get my next phone.
 
I am rooting for the HTC nexus or the M10. I loved my HTC phones up until the Rezound, and want to go back as soon as the y make something I like again. It's partly brand-allegiance left over from my early android days, and partly desire to support a brand that is not in the lead. I love the front facing speakers, but the cameras have been lacking for my desires.
