So the phone I want is $150 off at Amazon, but my wife did an alternate upgrade against my line! 2 lines are upgrade eligible. So, am I locked into Verizon's whimsy or do any other retailers do alternate upgrades?

I bought my Casio Commando through Amazon. You can follow the prompts and I believe you have to give Amazon your verizon customer service password. My eligibility for an upgrade was confirmed before I could complete the process of buying the phone. I also got a better price than I would have at Verizon.
