Root Which roms prior to 2.3.6 enable app to sd

I've rooted several devices in the past, but all newer ones and i tend to buy with plenty of storage. my mother in law's Prevail however only allowed her to have 2 apps if i remember correctly so i rooted it. I've got directory bind and i thought i remember reading somewhere that prior to a certain android version, the app to SD under application manager actually worked. since this is for someone who's not as into learning about tech, i'm not sure if she will be able to use directory bind. maybe it'll just be better to find a way that works the way she already knows how to use. She has a 32gb card that will otherwise go to waste so which roms (or rom versions) would be best. Once this is done its not necessary that it does much else than use apps like bingo blitz and facebook so other than that its not like it needs so many options like i would like. Thanks

**Edit- of course if I'm goint about it all wrong please let me know if there's an easier way I'm not thinking of. I'm partitioning now and it seems hopeful... not finished yet. :o
 
If you follow the rooting for dummies guide, it will tell you how to install CT MOD and how to set up card to work just like the phone does when it was stock and have tons of free space. You said the phones already rooted so that's half the work, the rest is easy. I'm off to work now but if need help just ask, someone or me will help.:)
 
hi, thank you for responding. i did that and all was well. i partitioned it but i was having a hard time getting things to move from internal and i thought i'd try to start from scratch and try to go to an older stock. well i was going to format the sd-ext and accidentally formated the sd. i see now that must have been what caused this problem bc now it wont boot. i have tried using odin again and putting everything back the way i had it but no matter what i do, even if i go in and try to mount the sd, it still says can't mount it.
please help. i hope i havent really messed something up. i've never had trouble with a phone like this before. it would have to be someone elses too. i'm kinda freaking out.
 
ok, i went back to odin, went back to stock. it at least turns on now. however i turned it off and back in clockworkmod and planned on flashing the zip to go back to ct3.80 but it still says, when i go to my external sd like i've done already 4 or 5 times... and it says "E: Can't mount /sdcard/"

how do fix this. i should have left well enough alone but she wants specific games on it and for some reason stock will run them but not enough room for more than one, but then if i install the custom rom it says incompatible. this is a whole other problem i'll ask later.. but just wanted to say thats what let me to change it again.

so i'm in clockwork now and i think the problem came from when i chose the wrong sd card to format. not sure though. maybe i did something else wrong but i don't remember doing antything else i havent done a million times already.

ok, tried odin one more time since i went back to stock. dont know why but it worked after that. started reading the sd card again! yay. maybe if someone else gets stuck with the same issue they can do what i did. back to koumakernel. as long as it boots up when i am done. everything looks great so far.
 
Koumakernel won't work on the stock rom. You need to flash half as rom if you want stock + koumakernel

Half ass rom is stock formatted yo work with kouma's kernel
