Which security app for remote lock or wipe?

Which app do you recommend to remotely lock or wipe a lost or stolen device? I normally keep my location services turned off. Do you have to keep location on for these apps to work? Or can they remotely activate location?

I just use Android Device Manager, which is built-in to all Android devices since KitKat.

Location must be on, but it can be in Battery Saving mode.

How is Lookout? I have it installed to scan apps but have never tried to use the Locate, Wipe features.
