Help While on phone can't hear texts

My phone is always on vibrate but when I am talking to someone and recieve a text there is no alert sound or vibration. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance.

What app are you using for texting? Is the setting within the app set to vibrate?
What rom are you on? Are you rooted?

Oh man.....not even sure what all that means...everythings default and updated!

Open up your dialer, press menu, call settings, call alerts and make sure alerts during calls is ticked
